The reason you’re here is to learn about the weather in Seville and when will be the most comfortable time for you. Keep reading and hopefully this article can help you decide when is the best time of the year to plan your trip.

What Are The Best Months to Visit Seville?

Seville has a warm Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The best time to visit Seville  is during the spring months of March to May when the temperatures are mild and the tourist traffic hasn’t peaked as yet. The tourism industry often refers to that time of the year as the shoulder season.

One benefit to travelling to Seville in the spring is that you’d often find hotels with cheaper daily rates. One thing to keep in mind though is that If there’s a special event or festival then rates will be higher, just like anywhere else in the world. During this time the city’s most notable festivals are Semana Santa, which takes place during the last week of Lent, and Feria de Abril, which begins two weeks after the Semana Santa.

Summers in Seville are some of the warmest in all of Europe, so many locals flee to nearby beach towns.

In the fall, the temperatures cool off and tourist crowds thin out, but then the rainy season begins. The winter months bring relatively cooler weather (daily highs rarely dip below 15°C) and many Sevillanos spend more time indoors.

Best Months To Avoid The Crowds In Seville

If you’re like many people that we know and you dislike crowds then you’ll want to visit Seville during the winter months. Getting tickets for the Royal Alcazar of Seville (notoriously hard to get in the summer) and  Seville Cathedral is much easier, and you won’t encounter big crowds or huge groups of tourists like in the summer.

During the summer these spots can get extremely packed. For example, it’s very common to have to wait in line for well over an hour during high season if you want to climb to the top of the Giralda tower in the cathedral. And that’s after waiting to just get into the cathedral itself.

And that’s already after you have waited to get into the cathedral itself! So visiting in the cooler months is the perfect time to avoid crowds.

Best Months To Visit Seville For Cheap Deals

The winter months, December to March, are the best times to visit Seville to get some good deals on hotel stays. As mentioned earlier, the winters are mild and not very rainy.

April, May, September & October are the busiest months to visit Seville as expected hotel stays can be pretty expensive in these months.

While most people try to avoid the scorching heat during the days the nights are particularly busy as people fill the plazas and the streets are alive creating an electric atmosphere.

Another thing to keep in mind is that during this time of the year is when the siesta culture is really embraced. A lot, not all, of places close during the hottest part of the day as people head indoors to escape the heat.

Festival Months in Seville

Seville is buzzing during Semana Santa (Holy Week) and the Feria de Abril (Spring Fair) which are just two weeks apart.

Hotels prices are higher during these times with prices being driven by demand.

During Semana Santa (Holy Week) thousands of hooded penitents take part in processions where they walk through the streets followed by religious statues. This isn’t unique to Seville as it happens all in every village, town, and city in Spain.

On the other hand, Feria de Abril is a festival that’s celebrated in Seville. In the second festival, the city’s population spends the entire week being irrepressibly and joyously Andalucian – in other words, dancing, eating, drinking and schmoozing until the wee hours.

During this time the weather in Seville is very unpredictable often rapidly going from hot sun to pouring rain and back to hot sun. Holy Week processions are sometimes rained off as some of the the statues are too precious to risk being damaged by rain. It’s highly recommended that you bring a shawl or jacket for the evenings because you just don’t know.
